Over the span of several weeks in 2020 I drew, transferred and meticulously carved this image into a block of linoleum.
Though I did not know it at the time, the classic Greek "Anthora" coffee cup design that I saw so often growing up in New Jersey (frequently visiting New York) would become a powerful reminder of my youth. Transplanting to Portland, Oregon in 2002, it was several years before I noticed the absence of this cup, which is ubiquitous on the East Coast. I now am known to yell at point at the screen whenever I see characters in TV shows holding one.
I have replaced the iconic WE ARE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU motto with a slogan that popped into my head several years back, and which seems like an important and comforting reminder to take in, much like a soothing cup of coffee in the winter.
Each print is signed and trimmed to approximately 10.5"x15" and comes in cellophane with backing board. Shipped flat.
